David Cameron

Chief Security Officer, International SOS

David is the Chief Security Officer for International SOS. He is responsible for setting security standards and supporting the implementation of these standards across the International SOS Group. He works with business leaders and their staff to ensure the protection of people, information, physical assets and our reputation.

David started his career as an officer in the Australian Army. As a Special Forces officer he led counter terrorism training teams across the Southeast Asia region before serving with the United Nations in Syria and Gaza. Before joining International SOS in 2002, David was Staff Officer to the Commander of the Olympic Security Coordination Centre prior to the 2000 Olympics in Sydney and gained commercial experience through managing a network of bank branches for Westpac, a major Australian Bank.

From 2003 to 2006 David led International SOS regional security teams in the Asia Pacific and the Americas before taking on responsibility for the global Security Services team. He was the Chief Operating Officer of the International SOS and Control Risks joint venture in 2007/2008. Over these years he led the International SOS security response to major incidents including the 2002 Bali bombing, the 2004 Asian Tsunami, the 2006 evacuations from Lebanon, and terror attacks in Mumbai in 2008.

In 2009, David returned to Australia and took up his current role.

David holds a BA (mil) from the University of New South Wales, a Grad Dip in Operations Management from UTS, an MBA from UTS and a MSc in Security and Risk Management from Leicester University. He is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP), and a member of the Australian Forum of Security Executives (FASE), the Asian Crisis and Security Group and ASIS International.
