International SOS is utilising its extensive medical and health resources in Papua New Guinea to support the Australian Government and the Government of Papua New Guinea in the all-important rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Access to free vaccination is essential across the globe to halt the spread of COVID-19.
In the Asia Pacific, nowhere is this currently more important than in Papua New Guinea. Australia is working in partnership with Papua New Guinea to support the safe delivery of COVID-19 vaccines.
This week Papua New Guinea will begin its vaccination program starting with essential health workers in Port Moresby.
International SOS will be leading the delivery of the vaccination program in Papua New Guinea.
International SOS is well placed to deliver this important service. It has been in Papua New Guinea for 28 years and employs more than 400 PNG national health workers and is one of the largest providers of private health services in the country.
International SOS has delivered large-scale vaccine programs in challenging environments around the world. Our programmes are clinically led by medical experts who are highly experienced in public health, vaccine safety and quality assurance.
Ian Gilbert, Regional General Manager, International SOS said:
“International SOS is focused on supporting this essential and historic front-line programme.”
“Our talented and dedicated local medical and health teams are pleased to be leading this programme and training for those administering the vaccine has commenced.”
“For our Papua new Guinean staff, this is a program of great national importance and significance.”
“International SOS would also like to thank the Government of Papua New Guinea. We have worked with leaders and policy makers in health for many decades and are pleased to step forward at this important time.”
Dr Duncan Dobunaba is Project Clinical Director, International SOS said:
“The Australian Government has supported Papua New Guinea with supplies of PPE in the initial phase and with the vaccine coming in, it is a support we really appreciate.”
In January 2021, International SOS was appointed to support the Australian Government to deliver its nationwide COVID-19 vaccination program in Australia.
Due to contractual requirements International SOS doctors and medical teams are not conducting interviews.
